CSR & Sustainability is about the way we work to address societal, environmental and climate considerations for the benefit of all our stakeholders. As a global luxury brand in the consumer electronics industry, we recognize that we have a responsibility and an obligation to continue to raise the bar for the industry.

Research to improve quality of life
Today, 40% of society is negatively affected by sound and 20% is exposed to sound and noise levels during the night that are downright harmful to their health. Together with Soundfocus, Wavecare and Aalborg University, we have initiated a research project called ISOBEL (Interactive Sound Zones for Better Living). The objective of the research project is to develop an entirely new type of sound system, where speakers in interaction are able to create a number of audio zones in a room or area, where you can control the sound being played and mask unwanted sound – without the use of e.g. headphones. The aim is to improve people’s health and life quality through sound zones that tackle unwanted sound and promote wanted sound – initially in people’s home and in hospitals. The research project is funded by Innovation Fund Denmark.
We want to support the innovators of tommorrow
Girls day in science is a nationwide (DK) campaign that aims to create awareness about the lack of girls in STEM – an international designation for educations and careers within the field of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. And fact is that there is only half as many women as men in educations within science. In October 2019 we participated in the campaign, and 30 secondary school girls visited us for a day in Struer, where they met some of our female employees, who shared their career path and work in B&O as well as challenged the girls with different tasks to solve.
Reduction of climate footprint in our own operations
We have launched several new initiatives and made progress on our efforts to minimise the climate and environmental impact of our company. One of the initiatives is replacing natural gas with district heating in our headquarter in Struer, this is reducing our CO2 emissions by 800 tons per year.
CSR highlights 2018/19
Each year our aim is to reduce our CO2 emissions. We reduced our CO2 emissions by 6,5% in our own building portfolio.
Through our partnership with Sound Hub Denmark, we supported 16 startups within technology and sound.
We recycled almost 80% of our production waste, which mainly consists of aluminium waste.
